Port Arthur
Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone
Bringing Downtown Back To Life
The Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) of Port Arthur, Texas was created in 2012 to promote economic development in the city. The TIRZ is an economic development tool used by local governments to bring public and private investments into the zone.
What is a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone?
The TIRZ is a designated geographic area in which a portion of the increased property taxes generated by new development is reinvested in the zone. These funds are used to improve infrastructure, promote development, and provide funding for other projects. The TIRZ board is responsible for allocating the funds.
